Upholding Excellence in the Alternative Investment Industry

Based out of Memphis, Tennessee, John Pettey is the Executive Vice President of Dobbs Equity, LLC, a private equity firm that is unique in that unlike a traditional equity firm, Dobbs Equity invests its own assets rather than raising capital from outside sources. In addition to his position with Dobbs Equity, LLC, John Pettey is affiliated with the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association (CAIA), an organization that represents professionals in the finance industry on a global scale.

The CAIA is a member-driven association dedicated to providing transparency, knowledge and professionalism to its members (from over 95 countries) in the investment industry, specifically alternative investment. In addition the CAIA strives to advocate for the highest ethical standards. In order to accomplish this mission the CAIA educates industry stakeholders on current and best practices in the alternative investment sector. Unlike other investments in stocks, bonds, or cash, alternative investment is the investment in real estate, private equity, and other commodities such as art and antiques, to name just a few.

As a member-driven organization, the CAIA has charter holders in 100 countries, each on the same mission to foster an industry that is good for the general public. The CAIA hosts many events to help bring its members together. In July 2021, the organization held an educational webinar where Japanese and European experts discussed impact investing. In August 2021, the CAIA will hold an in-person networking event for members. This is but a taste of what the CAIA does to uphold excellence in the investment sector.
